Patrick Murphy is a member of the Pillarton Advisory Team. He brings to our clients his deep and broad experience in building successful businesses in the technology and information services sector. His current interests include helping organizations apply technology to pursue solutions for global social and environmental challenges, particularly in the advancement of education resources and inspiring our youth to embrace learning as a pillar of their personal identity.
Since 2005, he has been a Principal at Lawrence Associates LLC, a premiere IT consulting firm specializing in developing marketing and sales models to identify and communicate both the business value and total cost of ownership of IT solutions for technology product companies and their enterprise customers. Prior to Lawrence Associates, Mr. Murphy served as a Board Member and Managing Partner of NetMinds Consulting, Inc., a boutique business consulting group, specializing in interim executive management and strategic financing development for early-stage software and web services firms in the Pacific Northwest.
Prior to co-founding NetMinds, Mr. Murphy spent 16 years accelerating the growth of several technology companies, building and marketing leading edge software products and web services. His experience includes the conceptual design, development and market launch of several business and education software applications and web-based services. He has held key management positions in several companies, including Sr. Vice President of Business Development for Mosaix Communications, a private network services provider to the SMB sector which he co-founded; CEO for Net2Trak Inc., an innovative ASP application for telecom service providers, where he managed that firm’s successful market entry and distribution channel development. He served as VP of Sales & Business Development for N2H2, an Internet content management and search services company for which he was instrumental in growing from a staff of 35 to 250, and increasing sales from $2MM to $12MM in 18 months prior to the company’s $65MM public offering in 1999. Mr. Murphy served 9 years as a Partner and VP of Sales & Marketing for Benchmark Systems, an early leader in the development and marketing of specialty vertical business applications. After selling his interest in Benchmark in 1995, Mr. Murphy served as Divisional Director for AEI Music, a global provider of custom foreground music and sound systems, where he reorganized and implemented a new channel marketing program for the 200+ North American sales and service partners of this $100MM firm.
Mr. Murphy has extensive experience in building reseller channels and establishing strategic partnerships with large companies such as British Telecom, AT&T, Microsoft, Novell, Inktomi, Qwest, Expanets and others. Mr. Murphy has held Advisory Board positions for various technology companies, and has served with several education and non-profit organizations and philanthropic fundraising committees. He received his B.S in Economics and an M.B.A. in Finance from Washington State University, where he also taught a Strategic Business Management course. He currently serves on the National Business Advisory Council for his alma mater.
